Lyndhurst’s Diamond Anniversary

Lyndhurst Flower Club were thrilled to start celebrating their 60th year together last month.  As they sat drinking fizz Mel Smith entertained them with a fabulous demonstration.

Past minutes dating back over the years were on display as two of their longest serving members cut the cake together. Pat Wyeth and Cecilia Mills joined the club over 59 years ago.

Once a very large club with a long waiting list they are now a group of around 22 ladies. They are a club with big welcome who thoroughly enjoy meeting up every month. Over the past couple of years they have introduced changes including moving to a smaller room, informal seating, flowers on tables, mini demonstrations and a greater number of hands on workshops.

The time apart during Covid has brought them all closer together so they embrace the importance of the social aspect of the club within the community. During each session they have created the opportunity for far more interaction with each other.

They ran a stand at their village fete last summer and this generated a lot of interest in the club and they have welcomed four new members as a result.

Its going to be a great year! If you fancy going along they meet at 2pm on the last Thursday of the month in the Pine Room, Community Centre, Lyndhurst. Just call Chairman Lynn Mackenzie on 07812 483474 if you have any questions.
